I have an issue with magazines being labelled up to the minute and interactive (especially when I’m running late with an issue), and actually see real value in the fact that they aren’t.
You see the value of a magazine stems from the fact that it is not dynamic, it is not now, and it is not realtime.
A magazine sets out to provide an insightful window into the past, however recent, surrounding it with commentary and observation, colouring the everyday and producing a snapshot for the future.
The online world of today on the other hand derives value from the fact that it is dynamic, that it is now, that it is constantly changing and evolving, drawing upon a very real user need to be here, now, and interacting.
